Pronounced “yin min,” this pigment is the first inorganic blue pigment discovered since cobalt in 1802. (Discovered at Oregon State University in 2009, it is also called “Oregon Blue,” but “YInMn is more fun to say!)
We have done a limited run of pens utilizing DiamondCast YInMn. This new material from McKenzie Penworks still has the signature diamond dust in the blank and it certainly has that sparkle, but it’s very understated – more of a “surprise in natural light” than a “defining feature.” The natural, rich blue is like nothing we’ve ever seen, and we’re thrilled to be the first makers to offer pens in this special material.
The pen is built on a 13mm cap thread in our Style 28 design with a simple stainless steel clip – a limited run of eight pens and a prototype are available on our website. You will not be disappointed by this amazing color!
