Trillium
The inspiration for this pen comes from the wild flower that grows here at home and the promise it offers to those of us who look forward to spring. The flower itself has three petals and grows wild in a variety of colors; the flower is set just above a set of three leaves of similar shape in dark green.
The pen was developed out of a dark Cumberland Green Italian acrylic. The dark green with veins of black throughout is a very earthy looking material polished to a high gloss. The metal work for this pen – done entirely in nickel silver – presents the trillium flowers on the clip in an alternating pattern, with three more around the cap band. Sculpted rings finish each end as well as the base of the section. The overall length of the pen is 155 mm capped and 135 mm open. The total weight of the pen is 30 grams. The build was based on 13 mm cap threads and a #6 Jowo nib.
Completed on St. Valentine’s Day – just after mid-winter – this project was a happy reminder to me that spring is not far away.
Please note: This pen will not be available to ship until after March 1, 2020.
